History of Hamilton Watches.

Since 1892 when in Lancaster, Pennsylvania the watchmaking brand has never stopped producing watches.

Hamilton Watch positioned itself as one of the pioneering brands of North American origin in the creation of pocket watches, as well as the necessary instruments to improve the precision of the United States railway, which is why it was one of the important brands in the development of the American railway. .

Since its birth, the Hamilton Watch Company has always focused on the quality and precision of these, managing to solve in 1912 the problem of accidents that American railways had.

Thanks to Hamilton's pocket watches, crashes were reduced to such a degree that they were dubbed “The Clock of Railway Precision”. Two years later, in 1914, this brand was not only a fundamental part of this sector, but also of the US Armed Forces during World War I, soldiers required to wear watches fitted to the wrist for easy reading of the time and greater comfort, which triggered the development of wrist watches.

By 1918, Hamilton watches became part of the United States air belt service between Washington, D.C. and New York, taking their first steps as pilot's watches.

History Hamilton Pilot watches

The first aviator pilot to reach the North Pole in 1926, Admiral Richard E.Byrd wore a Hamilton watch with which he timed his flight at 15 hours and 57 minutes.

In 1927, the pilots of the first flight from California to Hawaii managed to complete the flight successfully thanks to the precision provided by their Hamilton watch.

Hamilton Watches in the Movies

The connection and importance of this important brand was not only based on the military, since in 1932 it began to be part of the cinema. It was in the movie "The Shanghai Express" where a Pipping Rock model and a Flintridge stole the big screen.

In 1942, Hamilton dedicated himself to supplying the US Armed Forces receiving the Navy's “E” award for excellence in production.

Almost 10 years later, the brand's military watches appeared on the screens again, this time it was in The Frogmen released in 1951. But it was not until 1957 when one of the most emblematic and beloved models, the famous Ventura, would cause great sensation.

The Hamilton Ventura Elvis Presley Blue Hawaii Watch

Hamilton revolutionized the watch industry by producing the world's first battery-powered electric watch designed by Richard Arbib. But the Ventura's popularity came when the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley fitted it to his wrist in the musical Blue Hawaii.

In 1968, director Stanley Kubrick asked the Watch House to create exclusive watches, one for his wrist and the other for a desk, for his film 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Within the evolution of watchmaking, Hamilton plays an important role. In 1969, it introduced the first caliber 11 chronograph movement.

Innovation in watchmaking culture continued and Hamilton once again positioned itself as a pioneer in his inventions. In 1970 the brand welcomed the Hamilton Pulsar Time Computer, the first digital wristwatch. A success that continues today with the hamilton prs watch.

On May 16, 1974, the Swatch group purchased Hamilton, but it was not until 2003 that the headquarters and production facilities moved to Biel, Switzerland, obtaining the supreme quality and the legend "Swiss Made" on each of its watches.

In 2011, in collaboration with ETA, the movement manufacturer of the Swatch group, Hamilton began to develop its own calibers or custom automatic watch movements, H-21 and H-31. Three years later, it introduced the H-10, H-30 and H-40 with an 80-hour power reserve.

The Current Hamilton Watches. The current Hamilton collection is made up of manual winding mechanical watches, automatic mechanical watches and quartz watches, bringing together spectacular value for money and a wide variety of men's watches and women's watches.
